Kung Hee Fat Choy!
Where did this weekend go? It went by too fast. Didn't get to do a lot of what I wanted to. Maybe I expected to accomplish too much in the first place. Got some fun kendo action earlier today - a taikai (tournament) kind of thing happening. Lost my match to my classmate - good one S. Our side eventually lost. My shins feel all bruised up too - don't know why. Gonna TRY to do some home improvement during the week, we'll see.
Let's see what the new week holds.
Upwards and Onwards.

In the wee small hours of the morning
Its 4:30 am. I am still up working on some design stuff. I often feel like i'm still in college working on projects. Good kendo workout earlier. So much to think about on this friday. I guess i'd better try and get some Z's.

Business as usual
What a fast few days.
The design front is getting busier, I feel the gathering of clients' new projects looming on the horizon. I hope it doesn't get too time consuming. I'm on a mission to get into some fightin' machine kinda shape. Been working on formulating a schedule and hopefully sticking to it. I know my kendo will get better and I can get my skills up there. Mahalos for the books Shel-.
We're still working on the house too. I hope we can get the flooring in the living room installed soon. We still need to paint and fix one wall. Sounds easy but doing the prep work is a bitch. I'll put some pics as we go along. Weather's been kinda weird too. Cold, windy and rainy.
At least I feel i'm getting back to center.

No More Drama
Went to check on the printing"mishap" today. Its not as bad as I thought. Things just kinda worked out. I felt so drained today (mentally, & physically). Finished work late and straight for kendo practice.
Today wasn't too bad - I was able to work on some things in jigeiko. I need to work on my lower body strength. One of my classmates mentioned that the senseis are a little concerned about my health. I guess I've been getting very tired during practice. I admit that I get scared sometimes, but I enjoy kendo too much to fear it. I've pushed it pretty far a few times. I think my body is going through a transition. Need to figure out a nutritional plan and a non-kendo workout. Its gonna be about performance this year.
Feeling of relief today. My calves feel good. Now need some sleep.

Today is Sucking...
Yes, today just sucked. Right off the bat.
I get up this morning, check my e-mail and get a message that a project I sent to be printed in China arrived and the client said it looked terrible. I called the client to see what was up. I haven't seen the job yet. I'm going down tomorrow. I had a feeling something like this would happen. This printer-guy isn't working out good (had some quality problems in the past). Now I'm going through all my emails to PROVE I'm not at fault. Man, what a bunch of bull#@%t! I shouldn't have to do this. I kept on insisting they get a proof print to check - now this happens. HELLO, IF YOU'RE PRINTING THOUSANDS OF BAGS - WOULDN'T YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE ITS CORRECT?!

So. Throughout the day I had a hard time concentrating on my other jobs, which are actually going well. Despite the debacle of the day, I've tried to keep positive and keep optimistic. Days like this makes me think about how why I design. How can I turn this around?
Kendo tomorrow. Body feeling better. Healing is good.

Tired......

Some random stuff. Tiajuana, Mexico.
What a long day..... been working til a little after 7pm and went to kendo practice. Got killed tonight. I knew it would happen too. One of the reasons i hate going late is I don't get to warm up and get my body properly geared up for jigeiko. I just gotta deal with it. Another reason i don't like to come late - My focus sucks and i have that "not so fresh" kendo feeling. Man, it was a rough one. Hopefully I can redeem myself tomorrow when i go to Wahiawa with my friend and one of my sensei. At least i'm still in one piece, barely. My brain is shot.
me. out.
Back from Hilo Gig
IPod playing: "Blues Minor" - John Coltrane Quartet - "Africa Brass"
We (SugahDaddy) did a gig in Hilo this past saturday night. It was a bust. The promoter didn't do a good job promoting the gig. This was our first foray into the Hilo club scene. I can tell you this much: We won't be playing at "Uncle Mikey's" anymore, well... not unless they can pay our travel, lodging, and our fee. None of this "money from the door" shit. There was this terrible opening band (i'll leave nameless....they tried their best). Its was pretty harsh. I thought our actual performance was pretty good - everyone was on. Ricky G. (great oahu drummer) was with us on skins for this gig. I'm glad we were still able to play at our best despite the crap surrounding us. Luckily, it was only one night. We're sure there's other places around there that'll treat us better. Live and learn.
The night before the Hilo gig I got to train with some Kendo people from Akita, northern part Japan. Sasaki sensei came with his wife and a few women kenshi who were 5th dan. I didn't get to do Jigeiko w/ Sasaki sensei but got to with one of the women. Despite not being able to Jigeiko w/ most of them, I still learned alot that night. They were great. I was so beat after I got back from Hilo I couldn't make it to the sunday Honbu practice. Hope I get a chance to train w/ them in the future.
On the design front. Things are starting to get busy on the design end of things. I was able to hook up a job for a local museum. pretty stoked. The only downside is that I might get too busy w/ work that I might have to shave my kendo time. I guess I'll cross that bridge when i get to it.
No new year's resolution - Just finish what you start.
IPod playing: "Because of her Beauty" - Karl Denson's Tiny Universe - "The Bridge"
