Hey wassup-

Aloha all-

yes i'm not dead, just sandbaggin' and busy.

Design projects are looking really good and hopefully take it to another level. It should be busy for the next few months. Hopefully i can hone my identity skills more.

The music front is also looking good. Ooklah is keeping me busy with gigs and recording for the next CD. Hopefully it'll come out in October and probably hit the road (West Coast) in mid-November. Also got a recording project with my friend T. He's got some originals that has some Latin, Filipino folk, Jazz and Funk elements to it. Plannin on Cuttin' the CD in September sometime. Its a cool set-up: Tenor Sax, Piano and Drums. Its nice to have these kind of projects.

I passed my Shodan (first-Dan) in Kendo in June. It was pretty stressful. I almost messed-up on the Kata(Forms) portion. Luckily I was able to recover and seal the deal. Looks like the next batch of tournaments are in November. One of them will be up in Washington. Thinking about going, but not too sure because Ooklah, might be on the road. I guess we'll see.

Anyways, here's some pics -

Til the next time.....

Collecting Dings and Scratches

I've been thinking about all the injuries I've had over the years and how i got them.

injury: 5th grade - sprained ankle.

It was recess and i jumped up in the air (reason unknown) and my right foot landed on the blade of the foot. I suspect it was from the ghetto shoes my mom bought me from the navy thrift shop. I found out that the right shoe was a size bigger than the left. I remember limping home like a kook, i thought i could just walk it off....... My dad comes home and notices my new strut. Next thing you know we're at tripler and I'm getting a cast on my foot. They added a tall layer of rubber to my left foot so that I'll walk evenly. it was the biggest platform slipper ever.....

Back in school, everybody was diggin on the cast, signing it and people carrying stuff for you (yeah, the kids were kind back then). The party ended when i realized my leg was itchy like hell! While at home i managed to use a wire hanger to scratch my itch. after a few week of slim jimmin' my leg, the cotton bunched up on my shin.

time went on with me and my now dirt brown cast. I even got the blue angels to sign it at an air show at barber's point. i was sooo stoked. I was planning to save that part of the cast when i got it removed.

The day of removal. I was so stoked to get this bastard off my leg. Of course, the guy cuts right in the middle of my blue angels autographs. I was so pissed that i almost cried, but i think curiosity about seeing my leg staved it off. so off comes the cast and my right leg is so my smaller than my left. I'm totally trippin' out. We notice there's some cotton stuck on my shin. All that scratching cut my foot and i actually bled. it was nasty. fortunately i didn't get an infection or anything like that. Went home and washed my emaciated limb.

I don't think my ankle really healed. It was so ifffy for years...... (the inflatable castle at the church carnival, foot stuck in the cracks - years later). I was Left with my crutches and a really tall left-side slipper.

Rest my friend

RIP Keoki Suerth
